Commercial Break : Best Pasta EVER

This is honestly the BEST pasta mommy has EVER made in her life. It is all thanks to Tetsuya's Black Truffle Salsa*.

Educating the palate of the li'l one.

The bottle says that you can make 4 servings of pasta per jar. We reckon you can make 6-8 servings.

For 2 servings, mix 1/3 of the bottle with 1/2 tbs of garlic butter, 1/2 tbs of butter and lotsa parmesan cheese.

Toss with pasta. OMG. Heaven in a plate. Not exaggerating. YUM.

Tetsuya's Black Truffle Salsa an be bought at David Jones in the city for $26. But we found it online for only $20.

Commercial Break : Honeycomb

Honeycomb
http://www.honeycombrestaurant.com.au/

We are so glad that there was a long queue at Bill's in Darlinghurst. Because of this, we got lost and ended up in Honeycomb.

Don't bother lining up at Bill's and Cafe Sopra. Head over to Honeycomb. You will not regret it. Order the stuffed zucchini flower. Even the two meat-osaurus in our family loved it!

"...And the birds flew awaaaaay!...Piraaaates...Big boats!!!....Twinkle stars!!!..."

.
The food finally arrive.

Zucchini flowers stuffed with five kinds of cheese.

Baked eggs with parmesan & toasted ham soldiers

The scrambled eggs and bacon look unappetising in the picture. But the bacon was cooked just the way we like it...crispy and slightly overcooked.

Ditch the fork. Just dig right in.
Chicken Liver Pate

Squid Ink Risotto

Wagyu Steak

Time to burn off the calories.

This garbage bin deserves a picture. We can't believe it has a pack of garbage bags attached to it. We ❤ Sydney!

Commercial Break : New Shanghai

We went to New Shanghai in Chatswood Chase because we were reminiscing about our favourite Zong dish, the Deep Fried Chicken in Salted Yolk. We have tried the Calamari in Salted Yolk before. But it was too oily and after just 3 pieces, we were over satiated.  One year on, we were ready to give New Shanghai another chance.

Overall, the food is not outstanding enough for us to brave another round of really poor service. Let's just say we experienced better service from a Chinese restaurant servicing 6 full banquet tables with 1 server and 1 chef doubling as another server. 'Nuff said.

We ordered the Prawn in Salted Yolk, Xiao Long Bao and Pork and Chive dumplings. The plain rice served to us was the worst I've ever had...really dry and definitely not restaurant worthy.

To be fair, the Prawn in Salted Yolk was really good. It's a good thing they served only a few pieces so we didn't get the same feeling as when we had the calamari.

The middle piece did not make the first shot.
Lesson Learned: We're gonna buy those damn salted eggs in the asian grocery and make our own Crispy Chicken with Salted Yolk! Who has a good recipe?
