Commercial Break - Home

Home

Shop 1 - 2 / 299 Sussex Street
SydneyNSW 2000

It is always a good sign when there is a long line of people waiting to be seated in a restaurant. Home is always packed and we can definitely understand why.

Chicken, beef, duck or seafood, stir fried with basil, lemongrass and chilli, add in the papaya salad, moneybags, Tom Ka Gai and Pad Thai and you now have the menu of the hundreds of Thai restaurants in Sydney.

We wish we can say that Home's menu is different. It's not. BUT what sets Home apart from the rest is the taste. The dishes are so good. You have to try it.

Commercial Break - Janus

Janus

1 Blight St, Sydney, NSW

We thought that there would be more places serving breakfast along Tumbalong Park. As it turned out, only one resto had a menu that was enticing enough to draw us in. It's a good thing we gave it a shot! The music and food, combined with the beautiful Sydney weather was just the perfect start to an amazing weekend.

Commercial Break - SeaChange Cafe

SeaChange Cafe

3/20 The Strand, Dee Why,
NSW, Australia 2109

It is easy to spot SeaChange Cafe from the long row of restaurants that line The Strand at Dee Why. It is the only one with a queue. Regretfully, it must have been the scent of the salty beach air that made us order the Seafood Platter. We should have stuck to our original plan and ordered from the all-day breakfast menu. The Seafood Platter was still great, but the plates of breakfast food that were being served to other diners were looking pretty scrumptious. Next time.

Seafood Platter for Two

We love that it has a kiddie menu.

Fish and Chips from the Kiddie Menu

Always a plus when a resto provides paper and crayons

32-44 Birmingham St.
Alexandria, NSW
2015

If you want to relax and enjoy Sunday brekkie without the hassles of having to wait for a table or be cramped up with diners, Sonoma is the place for you. This is what we call a real Sunday Brekkie Cafe...great music, coffee and food, with lots of space and no queue.

The sourdough bread was perfect. The bacon was extra crisp. The chorizo had just the right amount of saltiness.

We will be back.

Commercial Break - White Chicken

After our trip from the Philippines, we're back to our "No cook, no eat" life. Here is one of our fave easy-to-cook chicken recipes, "White Chicken".

We decided to make this because we wanted to use our latest discovery...the powdered Calamansi extract! No need to run out to the grocery to grab a piece of lemon.

Just add water to the calamansi powder. It tastes and smells like the real thing. Wow.

White Chicken Recipe

Marinade chicken in calamansi/lemon juice, soy sauce, salt, pepper and garlic for at least 1 hour. Put in the oven at 180C for 20 minutes one side and 15 minutes on the other side.

Take the chicken out of the oven and add Cream of Mushroom, a bit of butter and a few dashes of knorr/maggi seasoning. We had no fresh vegetables since we just arrived from an overseas trip. But it would have been great to put in broccoli, mushrooms and potatoes. Put chicken back into the oven and bake for 15 minutes.

Ingredients:
Chicken thigh cutlets
minced garlic
soy sauce
calamansi/lemon juice
salt and pepper

1 can cream of mushroom
butter
knorr/maggi seasoning
Vegetables (optional)

Boracay

A lot has changed since our last visit to Boracay. But one thing will always remain the same...its beauty.
